The third grade classes recently used KidPix to write autobiographies. In this lesson, we reviewed how to save and open files, make and edit a text box, and use paint bucket, eyedropper, drawing, and clipart tools to draw a picture. These stories/pictures look amazing! Here are a few examples of their work.

The first graders have been using KidPix to practice some basic computer skills. While drawing these fall pictures, they learned to make a horizon line (which they remembered from art class!), used paint bucket fill, drew with a textured paintbrush, and added stamps of different sizes to their picture. All of these skills help them to have better control of the mouse and they also had to follow many steps to complete their picture! Their pictures looked beautiful!
On Friday the Kindergarten classes used iPads with Miss Bosch. We learned to draw using the free Hello Crayon app.
Before we started our lesson, the students watched this video featuring Paddy the iPad frog. He told the students about the things they needed to do and not do while using the iPads
Since the students had been learning about apples this week and had visited the apple orchard, we drew apples and apple trees. We also wrote color words on the iPads. Here are a few examples of their drawings!
Thursday the fifth grade classes are discussing what a “digital footprint” is. We talked about why it is important to have a good online reputation and what things can hurt our online reputation. We are learning about this in preparation for our upcoming unit using the Edmodo online community.
Students, please leave a comment of 2 or 3 sentences (with good spelling and punctuation). Please share:
- What you learned about “Digital Footprints.”
- How you can leave a good digital footprint for yourself.
- Things that can hurt your digital footprint.
- Why it is important to have a good digital footprint.
